Return to Face-to face teaching and learning.

The Scottish Government last week announced its thinking around Phase 2 of a return to face-to-face teaching, from Monday 15th March, and indeed also set out its expectation around a potential full return post Easter break. Read the EIS advice note in response.

EIS Manifesto launched

The EIS launched its Manifesto for an "Education Led Recovery" on Friday of last week. Central to the document is the demand for more permanent teaching posts to be created. More than 1 in 10 teachers are on temporary contracts or zero hours contracts, which the General Secretary described as a "scandalous" situation

One Thousand EIS Women Speak on International Women’s Day

Happy International Women's Day to all our members!

Today, we celebrate our women members' resilience in keeping education going in a crisis. In the last months, one thousand EIS women have recorded their experience of home and work-life during the pandemic, and speak strongly of the immense juggling act involved, and the impact on their own health and wellbeing.

We are still in a crisis, but together, we celebrate women's resilience. Over the next week we will continue to share stories from One Thousand Women's Voices on social media, and our film spotlighting a day in the life of seven members from Orkney to Argyle.
