FAQs about the Dispute

Created on: 06 Jun 2023

Q1. What is the dispute about?

This dispute has been running since 3 May 2023, following the initial savings consultation published by Dundee & Angus College on 23 April 2023.

The initial consultation period concluded on 19 May 2023. During this time three dispute meetings took place between EIS and D&A College management, with no resolution reached. On 30 May at a JCF meeting, D&A College informed the Branch of their updated position and published a Final Consultation on Savings and Change Proposals on 31 May 2023.

Despite many members of staff applying for Voluntary Severance and significant savings being identified, D&A college management have refused to withdraw the threat of compulsory redundancies.

Q2. What is the consultative ballot about?

The consultative ballot which opened today relates to D&A College management's proposal to initiate compulsory redundancies if sufficient staff reductions are not met by other methods outlined in their savings and change proposals.

The objective of the ballot and any forthcoming industrial action is to overturn Dundee & Angus College’s decision to consider and potentially initiate compulsory redundancies of lecturing staff at Dundee & Angus College.

Q3. What does the branch recommend?

The EIS-FELA Dundee & Angus Branch Executive Committee recommends that you fight against compulsory redundancies at Dundee & Angus College and vote YES to Action Short of Strike and Yes to Strike Action in this Consultative Ballot.

Q4. How do I place my vote?

You will have received an email on 5 June with a link and voting codes. If you have not received this, please contact ballot@eis.org.uk
