Strike Pay

With the Institute's approval, the EIS-ULA has decided to provide financial support to all members who are employed to work and who take action on one of the days included in the programme of strike action, recently announced by the EIS-ULA Branches at Edinburgh Napier University, the University of Aberdeen, the University of Strathclyde, the University of the West of Scotland and the Glasgow School of Art.

Strike pay will be paid from the second day of action (i.e. 25th February 2020) to members at a rate of £50 for each working day on which strike action is taken.  For example, members who are contracted to work and who take action on Tuesday, 25th February and Monday, 2nd March will be entitled to claim a £100 Strike Payment, whereas members contracted to work and taking action on one of the two days, will be entitled to claim £50.

The Hardship Payment will be paid to qualifying members up to a maximum of £50 for each working day on which strike action is taken.

Please note that the hardship fund is not a daily payment for everyone taking strike action but for those members who, as a consequence of the pattern of strike days, may lose a significantly higher percentage of their income when compared to a full-time member of staff.
